Built for Bass
The CXA400.1 is a dedicated mono subwoofer amplifier, meaning its job is simple:
Deliver clean power to your subwoofer.
Rather than wasting amplifier channels on full-range speakers, the CXA400.1 concentrates its power and processing on the low-frequency portion of your system.
That makes it an excellent choice for:
- Single subwoofer systems
- Loaded subwoofer enclosures
- Compact bass upgrades
- Factory-radio integration
- Aftermarket head-unit systems
- Truck and SUV bass upgrades
- Daily-driver systems
- KICKER subwoofer installations
Up to 400 Watts RMS
The CXA400.1 is rated for different power levels depending on the final speaker impedance.
4 Ohms
150W RMS x 1
2 Ohms
300W RMS x 1
1 Ohm
400W RMS x 1
This makes the amplifier particularly versatile for subwoofers with different voice-coil configurations.
When choosing a subwoofer, always verify the final wired impedance before connecting it to the amplifier.
1-Ohm Stable for Flexible Subwoofer Wiring
One of the biggest advantages of the CXA400.1 is its 1-ohm stability.
This gives you additional flexibility when selecting a subwoofer and configuring single or dual voice coils.
For example, a compatible dual-voice-coil subwoofer may be wired to a final 1-ohm load to take advantage of the amplifier's full 400-watt RMS output.
Always confirm the voice-coil configuration and final impedance before wiring.

Class-D Efficiency
The CXA400.1 uses an efficient Class-D amplifier design.
Class-D amplification is particularly well suited to subwoofer systems because it provides substantial power output while keeping the amplifier relatively compact.
That makes the CXA400.1 a great option for installations where space is limited but the customer still wants meaningful subwoofer power.
Works with Factory Radios
You don't necessarily need an aftermarket radio to use the CXA400.1.
KICKER's FIT+™ Fail-safe Integration Technology-PLUS allows the CX-Series amplifier to work with a wide range of factory and aftermarket audio systems.
The amplifier accepts:
Low-Level RCA Input: 125mV–5V
High-Level Speaker Input: 1V–40V
That high-level input capability can eliminate the need for a separate line-output converter in many installations.
This makes the CXA400.1 particularly attractive for customers who want to add a subwoofer to a modern factory stereo without replacing the vehicle's original radio.
Up to 40V Speaker-Level Input
Modern factory audio systems can produce considerably higher speaker-level signal voltage than traditional aftermarket radios.
The CXA400.1 is designed to accept up to 40 volts of speaker-level input, providing the flexibility needed for many factory-integrated systems.
This is one of the features that separates the CXA400.1 from basic aftermarket amplifiers that require a conventional low-level RCA signal.
Variable Low-Pass Crossover
The built-in low-pass crossover is adjustable from:
50Hz–200Hz
with a 12dB/octave slope.
This allows you to control how high into the frequency range the amplifier sends signal to the subwoofer.
For most systems, the low-pass filter will typically be set somewhere around the upper-bass region and adjusted to blend the subwoofer naturally with the vehicle's main speakers.
24dB Subsonic Filter
The CXA400.1 includes a 24dB/octave subsonic filter fixed at 25Hz.
A subsonic filter helps reduce extremely low-frequency content that may not contribute meaningfully to audible bass but can create unnecessary speaker excursion.
This is particularly useful with ported enclosures, where frequencies below the enclosure's tuning point can place significant stress on the subwoofer.
KickEQ™ Bass Boost
Need a little more low-end impact?
The CXA400.1 includes KickEQ™ variable bass boost, providing:
0–6dB of boost at 40Hz
This allows you to add additional emphasis around the 40Hz region when appropriate for the enclosure and subwoofer being used.
Use bass boost conservatively. Proper enclosure design, subwoofer selection, and amplifier gain are more important to overall bass performance than simply increasing the boost.
Compact Installation Footprint
The CXA400.1 measures approximately:
8-1/8" × 6-3/4" × 2-3/8"
making it considerably easier to install than many larger amplifiers.
Its compact footprint makes it useful for:
- Pickup trucks
- Under-seat installations
- Compact SUVs
- Trunks
- Side panels
- Custom amp racks
- Small subwoofer systems
KICKER also includes hardware for vertical mounting, giving installers another option when conventional flat mounting isn't ideal.
RCA Pass-Through Outputs
The CXA400.1 includes full-range RCA pass-through outputs.
This allows the signal to continue to another compatible amplifier without requiring a separate distribution device in many system configurations.
For example, a system could use the CXA400.1 for the subwoofer while sending the signal onward to a full-range amplifier powering the vehicle's main speakers.

Optional Remote Bass Control
The CXA400.1 is compatible with KICKER's CXARC Remote Bass Controller, sold separately.
With the optional remote installed, you can adjust subwoofer level from the front of the vehicle rather than reaching the amplifier.
This is especially useful when listening to music with significantly different bass content.
Built for Clean, Reliable Operation
KICKER incorporates a three-second turn-on/off delay into the CXA400.1 to help minimize unwanted system interference during startup and shutdown.
The amplifier also uses efficient heat-sink construction to help manage operating temperature during normal use.
